What roles are players in CS: GO and how to play them
Yuriy SheremetCounter-Strike: Global Offensive is a team game. And as in any team game, it has a division into roles. Separating players by position makes the game structured and allows the team to play tactically. In usually matchmaking, few people adhere to a certain role, but entering faceit, even at a low level, you can meet players who ask to be given a certain plant or position.Unlike Dota 2, CS does not have a strict role assignment, especially at low levels of the game.
There are many nuances, some players can combine several roles, for example, the captain can be a sniper, etc. Each team has its own distribution of roles. Combining roles, playing styles and presets is the essence of the game.
Roles in defense
The defense does not have such a strict distribution of roles. The task of the defense is to keep the terrorists from reaching the point. To do this, you need to position yourself correctly. The placement of the defense depends on the map, for example on Nuke there is no need for two players to play the bottom bombsite. In general, CT has the following roles:
Opornik
A defensive player is a player who always plays on one site and the last one is always pulled from it. The main task of this role is to delay the exit of the opponent as much as possible, to give information about the entrance to the bombsite in time and make as many frags as possible, or wait for help.
The midfielder must be able to occupy a competent position in the bombsite and trade for a plus, while cleverly throwing back grenades. It will be a complete failure to die with a full pack of grenades, besides, the attack can get an additional smok or hammers, which will seriously complicate the retake for your team.
Most often, the outcome of the round depends on how much the defensive player managed to do.
Helping.
This is a player who is dragged as information arrives. He is the first to escape from a point that is not being attacked, to a point where the terrorists go. These players work in conjunction with the defenders/snipers/other players, trying to help make frags with minimal risk to life.
The tasks of this role include to fold the flash drives, go out for the exchange, and carefully collect information.
Roles in attack
There is much more tactical variety when playing as an attack. It is the terrorists who need to figure out how to open one of the bombs, how to divert attention and deceive the special forces with the help of grenades, the sounds of shooting or footsteps. Therefore, the attack has specific roles: lurker, entry fragger and support.
Lurker
This player acts separately from the team, constantly trying to go into the back of the opponent, or to portray a fake on the opposite one.
In the game, as everyone knows, sound is very important. One of the tasks of the lurker is to listen to how the commandos move at a point that is not being attacked. In fact, the lurker is waiting for the right moment to go out and kill the players on the site who are about to drag. You can do without killing and act silently, simply by passing information to your teammates.
Lurker can also act aggressively, attracting the attention of the defense, while his team prepares an approach to another site. At the same time, it is important not to die, so that the opponent does not understand that there is no one else with you.
The role is quite creative and requires a lot of playing experience and understanding the timing of movement on the map. A competent lurker can win the round for the team by his way out, but also in case of an error, leave the teammates in the minority.
In some rounds, the attack does not use the lurker. For example, when all five either quickly go to one point, or make a slow round.
Entry Fragger
Most aggressive role. The player's task is to get out first and make the first kill in the round. In the majority, it is much easier for terrorists to play, and the defense, having lost at least one player, is very constrained in actions.
Entri fraggers are trying to gain an early advantage for the team. A sniper is often chosen for this role.
Entri Fragger plays aggressively and therefore dies quite often. Sometimes he acts alone, and sometimes - in conjunction with the whole team, but still comes out first to contact the opponent. This type of player constantly acts aggressively, it is important for him to coordinate with the player's helper, who throws him flash drives when entering the bombsite.
Support
At first glance, the simplest role, but this is far from the case, the support has many responsibilities and must combine many qualities.
During the buying phase, this player pays more attention to grenades than weapons. It is always important for him to have the grenades necessary for the entry.
The support does not fly forward with the Entry Fragger. He stays behind and throws grenades or controls the approach to the back. Often these players remain in clutches.
For correct spreading, you need to remember a dozen points on each map. In addition, knowledge of timings is required. Throwing a flash drive on time can win the round.
In addition to working with grenades, fire support is also needed. This is not only the closing of positions, but also the exchange. It is the support that trades the Entry Fragger or helps the sniper to hold the position. In general, such a player is needed everywhere and must be able to do everything.
Sniper
There was no mention of such a category of players as snipers. The player who occupies this important role is there for each side. For protection from, he is usually a helper and is dragged to the bombsite to help meet the exit, but he can also stand in the bombsite itself, it all depends on the player's play style, usually this role should be a flexible player who is able to move around the entire map.
The sniper constantly moves around the map: one round can play on A, another - on B. And in the third, go to mid. If this is not done, the opponent will quickly understand where the player with the AWP is and will bypass this position.
For the attack, the sniper acts as an entry fragger, and tries to catch the pressures from the CT side or aggressively enters one of the sites, again, it all depends on the player's style.
The main task of the sniper is to make as many frags as possible. How he does it is not so important. Different snipers have different styles of play: some play more passively, others a little more aggressively.
There is only one main sniper in the team. But there are play options that use two sniper rifles. Most often, this is done by the defense, which puts a sniper at each of the points.
