Match Prediction: Astralis - FaZe | CS2 (CS:GO)

It’s difficult to define the favourite as both collectives are Tier-1 teams and have a very good paying shape. 

At first, we want pay your attention at World Top according to HLTV.org. There FaZe Clan have held the first position for several month. Their opponents Astralis took the fifth position in World Top. Also we should mark that recently Astralis took the fourth position, but they were replaced by the team Cloud9, which managed to get 4 positions forward.

If we examine the results of the matches during DreamHack Masters Marseille 2018, we can notice that Astralis ended their participation in the group stage with better results than FaZe Clan’s. Astralis got to Group D together with such teams as Gambit eSports, Space Soldiers and Team Liquid. They managed to win over Space Soldiers by the score of 16-2 and Team Liquid by the score of 2-1 on their way to the playoff. As for FaZe Clan, they got to Group А together with such opponents as Team EnVyUs, Cloud9 and G2 Esports. Unlike Astralis, FaZe Clan stopped their participation in the group stage with the statistics of 2-1. They were able to win 16-1 over Team EnVyUs at the first match, but they lost at the next match against Cloud9 by the score of 0-2. At the final battle of the group stage, Team EnVyUs couldn’t gain revenge from FaZe Clan and the grand of the European CS:GO defeated Team EnVyUs by the score of 2-0 one more time.

Now let’s recall that Astralis played their last match on 19 апреля, while FaZe Clan last match took place on 20 April. A day-off can be useful for the Danish, but still it can also play a low-down trick for Astralis. FaZe Clan had no rest after the last match, but practice before such a fight at the quarter final can’t be odd.

If we take into account not only the matches played during DreamHack Masters Marseille 2018, but also those which were played during the whole April as parts of ESL Pro League Season 7 Europe and Esports Championship Series Season 5 Europe, the team’s situations are quite similar. FaZe Clan played 16 matches in April, not counting 3 matches at DH Marseille 2018, and got the win at 10 out of them. So the winrate of Karrigan and his team is 62,5%. Meanwhile Astralis played 10 matches and won at 6 out of them. It means that the percentage of wins of the Danish team in April equals 60%. But FaZe Clan are not so far from them, but this indicator and a small number of the played matches states that FaZe are in a better playing shape.

If we also take into account that on 1 April FaZe Clan made a change in their roster, it becomes a more possible statement. As a reminder, on 1 April Olof «olofmeister» Kajbjer reported that he had left the roster by his own reasons for an indefinite period. Richard «Xizt» Landstrom who is a member of Ninjas in Pyjamas joined the team as a substitute. Despite the substitution, the European tea, still is in a good shape and holds to the top position in the world which can only satisfy fans of FaZe Clan and other viewers.

Astralis made last changes in their roster on 7 February. After Markus «Kjaerbye» Kjaerbye leaving the team, North Astralis decided to sign Emil «Magisk» Reif, who was remembered by his performances under such tags as North and OpTic Gaming.

At the bookmaker’s centers, it’s clear that the majority of the viewers prefer to make bets on the giant of the Danish CS:GO stage but not on FaZe Clan. The coefficient of Astralis’s win is ~1,50-1,70, while their opponents FaZe Clan have а coefficient of ~2,20 and more.

Having analyzed the situation, we think that we shouldn’t ignore such a team as FaZe Clan. The Europeans are in a pretty good shape now and the mistakes made b the guys during the group stage of DreamHack Masters Marseille 2018 have been analyzed and fixed at the match with Astralis. Also we think that the fact that FaZe played their last match yesterday and had no time to relax morally gives them an advantage Astralis, who played two days ago and could relax before the meeting with one of the most difficult opponents.

In this case we don’t want to agree with the opinion of the majority and recommend you to make a bet on FaZe Clan, but the sum of the money shouldn’t be so big. It’ll be better if you limit the size of not more than 3% from your bank. If you want to take a risk, you can make a bet of 5%. The chance of FaZe Clan’s win is rather high and the coefficients set for the bet on the potential winner are good. In case of the win of the European collective and the choice of the bookmaker with the biggest FaZe’s coefficient, you can get a profit of 250% from the sum of the bet which is a very good result.

If you want to follow the majority’s opinion and to put a bet on Astralis, we still don’t advise you to make a bet of a huge sum as both collectives are in Top 5 World Best CS:GO Teams according to HLTV.org. The coefficients of Astralis’ win are rather small comparing with FaZe’s, and the probability of the win of each of the participants at the meeting is 50%.
