Tournaments of The International series have long become a key championship not only in Dota 2 , but also in esports in general. The multi-million prize fund, the best teams, as well as the attention of players from all over the world, have shaped the image of this event. The International 2022, the 11th world championship, starts tomorrow morning. The tournament will run until October 30th. In this article we will tell you all the details of TI this year.

Format

The International 2022 will be divided into two parts: the group stage and the playoffs. In the group stage, 20 teams are divided into 2 groups. The teams will fight according to the Round Robin system, that is, each club will play one match with the rest of the group. The match format is bo2. The 2 worst participants from each group will leave the tournament.

The final stage will take place in the Double Elimination bracket. 8 teams will start their journey in the upper bracket, and 8 participants will start in the lower part of the bracket. The matches of the first round of the lower bracket will be played in Bo1 format. The format of all other matches, except for the grand final, is Bo3. The match for the title of world champion and the main prize will be held in the form of a Bo5 series.

Location

The tournament will take place in Singapore. The venue for the competition will be the Suntec Singapore complex. The playoffs this year will be divided into two parts. The decisive matches of the last two days of The International 2022 will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, which can accommodate up to 12,000 spectators.

Prize fund

Valve has traditionally allocated a starting amount of $1,600,000 to the prize pool, and the rest of the prize money is 25% of Battle Pass sales. At the moment, the total prize pool is $15,558,395. For comparison, the prize fund of last year's The International was $40,018,195. The International 2022 is not even close to The International 2015, which had a prize pool of $18,429,613. This is due to the weak content of the Battle Pass, as well as its division into two parts.
