Paris Games Week 2023: The Games Event at the End of the Year

The year has already held many exciting highlights for gamers. From Gamescom in Cologne to the Dota Major in Berlin, it was always exciting on home soil. At the end of the year, gamers can now experience another exciting event with our neighbours. The Paris Games Week will take place again in November 2023 and invites you with a particularly exciting programme. Between eSports, new video games and cosplays, visitors to the five-day fair will certainly not be bored!

Gaming has arrived in the mainstream

For a long time, video and browser games were considered purely niche hobbies. Gamers were often showered with clichés and portrayed as lonely and unimaginative. Just sitting in front of the screen all day? That must be unhealthy! Today, most people have a more differentiated view of the gaming world. The reason for this is that the number of gamers has increased significantly and the digital hobby has reached the mainstream. In Germany, around 6 out of 10 citizens are said to pull out their smartphone at least occasionally to open a gaming app or enjoy video games on their PC and console. Browser games are also back in vogue because they can be played on all internet-enabled devices and thus offer a high degree of flexibility.

Playing games on the net has many facets. Massive Multiplayer Online (MMOs), which can be played against a multitude of players from all over the world, are particularly popular. From imaginative MMORPGs to competitive Battle Royales, everything is included. At the same time, slot machines enjoy great popularity and can be experienced in virtual casinos. Players have the opportunity to use slots with different themes and versatile designs on one platform and switch back and forth between different titles within seconds. Of course, AAA titles continue to score among gamers, yet the way of playing has changed. Instead of the classic game purchase, more and more gamers are opting for subscription services that provide them with a wide variety of games. Interested parties can now experience even newer trends in the gaming landscape at Paris Games Week!

Paris Games Week invites international stars

Paris is best known for its Fashion Week, but with Paris Games Week, France also wants to establish itself as an important nation in the games market. The incredible turnover of the international games industry in recent years has shown how essential this is for the domestic economy. In 2022, the sector is expected to have generated more than 200 billion euros worldwide, about seven times as much as the sale of cinema tickets. The games industry is now indispensable and European countries also want a piece of the pie. Nevertheless, Japan, China and the USA remain at the top as games producers. At Paris Games Week 2023, they will come to the French capital to present their latest games. Presentations from Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox, for example, have already been confirmed, which is sure to increase the crowds.

However, in order to push the domestic market, an area will also be made available for titles from France, where both small and large studios will get the chance to shine. This year, games like A Plague Tale: Requiem or Chants of Sennaar can be found there, and with Blooming Business: Casino, the iGaming world also finds its home at Paris Games Week.

Countless exhibitors gather in three halls at Paris Games Week and offer their new software and hardware for testing. But the event has even more to offer. From interesting interviews to important announcements from the games industry to exciting eSports battles, everything is here. If you are interested in cosplay and would like to see some of your game heroes in real life, this is of course the place to be!

From 1 to 5 November 2023, the Paris Expo will be transformed into a colourful world of video games. Visitors will be able to try out different video games, take photos with the most impressive cosplayers and learn more about the future of gaming. The event is also particularly important for France to make a name for itself in the international scene.
